Make your splash on morning TV
CLC specializes in media tour production for TV, radio, podcasts, and online. A satellite media tour puts your spokesperson in front of a camera once and in front of twenty or thirty TV newsrooms over the course of a morning. In-studio, remote, New York, Mexico City, we can do any project, anywhere.
Media tour projects start with an analysis of communications goals, taking into account spokesperson, branding, and budget. This framework drives the broadcast mix, editorial strategy, and audience benchmarks. Decades of experience and thousands of interviews inform project recommendations and execution.
How a satellite media tour works
Planning. We start with the story, the spokesperson, and the date. With the right positioning and guidance, just about any concept can find a meaningful audience. Variables include the level of celebrity/credibility of the host, timing and topical considerations, and the amplitude of the embedded commercial message. We build the pitch and the b-roll package around where your story sits on that spectrum.
Booking. Our producers pitch local morning shows, midday news, cable, and national outlets, and build a schedule of back-to-back interviews, typically between 6 and 11 a.m. Eastern. Whether you need a small number of markets to support an event, or a multi-spokesperson, on-location all-day TV outreach, we'll deliver excellence in production and media access.
Tour day. We run the control room, cue the spokesperson, and handle every technical handoff. Each station gets a clean feed, a lower third, and the b-roll it needs. If your spokesperson is new to live TV, we fold in media training in the days before.
Reporting. The media is talking about you. Now what? We find the coverage, provide clips, build reports and analytics, and make sizzle reels of the whole thing if you want it. Every SMT comes with a station-by-station report and audience numbers from our broadcast reporting team.
Studio or remote?
Originating a satellite media tour in a studio with professional cameras and sound will nearly always produce a better looking production than a home setup. However it's important to weigh factors like cost and convenience when deciding. Talent that does frequent TV appearances may have an elevated home studio and be more comfortable taking prompts without an IFB. We produce both, and we'll tell you honestly which one your spokesperson needs.
Who it works for
We have produced and coordinated thousands of interviews covering breaking news, promotional features, crisis communications, and expert advice. Whether you represent a celebrity, KOL, corporate spokesperson, or friendly member of the marketing team, we can prepare them for a media experience that will achieve your goals and elevate their profile. Pharmaceutical launches, consumer products, nonprofit campaigns, and financial news all run on the same machinery. From audiences that exceed a billion viewers (yes, an actual billion; we do it every year and it's enormous), to one-off hits where your CEO was interviewed by a business show.

Satellite media tour FAQ
What is a satellite media tour?
A satellite media tour, or SMT, is a series of live or taped TV interviews conducted from a single location over a few hours. The spokesperson stays put. The stations come to them, one after another, by satellite or IP feed.
How many interviews does an SMT get?
Fifteen to thirty is typical for a well-positioned consumer story. Most projects fall somewhere in between, and there is substantial scope for movement along the spectrum based on strategy and execution.
Can any story or spokesperson work for a satellite media tour?
An A-list film star promoting a charitable endeavor with no personal promotional benefit forms one end of the interest spectrum, while a sponsor affiliated spokesperson with rigid talking points lands on the other. Most projects fall somewhere in between.
Are all TV stations trackable?
All broadcast and cable TV stations are generally trackable. Gaps in closed captioning transcripts mean it can be very useful to have a sense of where and when clips aired. Video clips for some stations are sometimes unavailable due to ongoing licensing negotiations.
Can we add radio to the same day?
Yes, and most clients do. A radio media tour slots into the same morning with no extra setup for the spokesperson.
